The twelfth annual George Morris Horsemastership Training Session will be held at the Global Dressage Venue in Wellington, Fla. from January 5-7, 2018. The training session is designed to identify and develop the next generation of top U.S. Equestrian Team talent through instruction from experts in a variety of aspects of horsemastership.
Past participants include members of recent U.S. Teams, including Lillie Keenan, who helped the U.S. secure a Gold Medal at CSIO5* in Dublin in August 2017 and at CSIO5* Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ in September 2017, Ali Wolff who was on the Silver Medal winning U.S. Team at CSIO4* Wellington in March 2017, and Jennifer Gates, Michael Hughes, and Wilton Porter, all who were members of the U.S. Team at CSIO3* Samorin in September 2017.
In 2018, the Training Session will feature intensive mounted sessions led by Anne Kursinski, Kent Farrington, and McLain Ward as well as daily instruction on all facets of horsemastership from experts in their respective fields. In the barn, Training Session Manager Colleen Reed will guide the participants as they complete all of their own horse care throughout the Training Session. In the saddle, elite U.S. athletes will work with the partipants in sessions focusing on flatwork, gymnastics, and courses, respectively. Similar to last year, the Program will conclude with a Nations Cup-style session on Sunday, January 7th.
The USEF thanks the many clinicians and sponsors who make this event possible and Equestrian Sport Productions who generously hosts the Training Session.
